Have you heard about Community Forums?
The Community Forums are an advisory body, which act as a key vehicle for
community engagement within the locality. Members of the public can raise issues
of concern and wherever possible, together with relevant agencies, solutions to
those concerns can be worked out. The next forum meeting in your area is
scheduled to take place on Tuesday 10th September in Bidford.
If you have a specific concern or problem, then come along to the local surgery from
6.30 pm - 7 pm, where you will be able to speak to your local Safer Neighbourhoods
Policing Team, Warwickshire County Council or Stratford-on-Avon District Council
If you would like to suggest an issue for a future Community Forum meeting,
or get involved, please contact the WCC Stratford Area Office on 01789 290784
or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
You may be aware that over the last 12 months, the County, District, Town/Parish Councils and the Police have been working together to develop and deliver a programme of Community Forums across the Stratford District, which take place every three months.
The Community Forums have been set up to give our community the opportunity to meet their local County and District Councillors and their Community Policing Team and to voice their opinions about how public services can be improved in their area. The issues raised at Forums will be acted upon by all partners, and we are accountable to you for making sure you get a response and action is taken to tackle the issues that are important to you.
Many Parish and Town Councils already play a key role in helping to support and promote these Forums, and your local knowledge is invaluable to the success of them, as you know where the ?hotspot? areas may be in your community. The purpose of this letter is:
to encourage you to help us attract more members of the public to come along to these Forums
to invite you to raise issues for consideration on the agendas of the Forums
If you are not already involved in the Forums, you might be interested to know more about how they work, and how your attendance at them can influence local action.
If you have a problem in your area which the community police team can help to deal with, you can highlight this at the Forum. If the Forum agrees that this is a priority (each Forum can choose up to 3 priorities at each meeting), you will receive targeted action to address this problem over the course of the next 3 months. For example, if there is a speeding issue in your area, we can guarantee a specific number of speed checks at a variety of times during the day.
Because residents told us through the Community Forum that young people in Alcester needed more support, we have been successful in providing funding for an additional 2 youth workers.
Do you have problems with the maintenance of highways or footpaths in your area?
Do you feel there is more we could do to provide activities for young people?
How can we help you to feel safer in your community?
Is there more we can do together to improve your quality of life?
If the answer to these questions is yes - then come along to your Community Forum and let's agree how we can work together to take some action. And please encourage your friends and neighbours to come along too. We already distribute posters and leaflets to each Town/Parish Council so your help in passing these on to residents via your websites, newsletters and in community venues/noticeboards is very much appreciated.
The date of the next Community Forum in your area is 16th September 2014 in Bidford. Come along for an informal chat with police and councillors from 6.30pm and the Forum itself starts at 7.00pm.
If you would like us to come to your Parish Council meeting to tell you more, please get in touch with Amanda Wilson-Patterson on 01789 290784 or email email@example.com. If you know of any community groups in your area that would like us to talk to them about this ? please let Amanda know.
With your support, as grass roots representatives of your local community, we can all work together to improve the quality of life for our residents, and really make these Forums a catalyst for change.
I attach for your information the contact details of your local County and District Councillors, and some direct dial numbers to help you contact relevant agencies for help and advice. Your first port of call for advice about who best to contact is the Stratford Area Team, based at Winton House in Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon. Our direct line is 01789 290784 or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org
I look forward to hearing from you, and to meeting you at future Community Forum meetings.
